Ruben Israel’s Libertad had a week of accomplishments, defeating its classic rival Olimpia and classifying to the next phase of the Copa Sudamericana with a tie against Wanderers at the Nicolás Leoz de Asunción stadium. Libertad finishes a great week by achieving two major objectives. On one hand, the team defeated its classic rival Olimpia, by a score of 1 to 0. Pedro Benítez added the only goal right before the end of the first half.
The Gumarelo proved its future potential by playing with a lot of its youngest players against the vice champion of the Copa Libertadores. On the other hand, the team took its first main step of the season by classifying to the second phase of the Copa Sudamericana, at a tied match against Wanderers that ended with a score of 0 – 0. Libertad had control of the whole match, however could not score and so the game finished at a tie. Libertad sized the advantage gained at Uruguay and now works towards its next rival, Mineros. Israel’s team keeps going straight up gaining great results.
