The most successful coach in the history of the team left in tears. Israel leaves as the most successful coach in the history of the team. After four years of absence, the Uruguayan came back at mid 2012 and with him came the titles. First it was the opening tournament of the Paraguayan championship, winning his fourth title with the Gumarelo. His first time at Libertad was at 2007, where he won the Paraguayan championship. A year later the team achieved the championship once more by winning both half’s of the tournament. Passing the first phase of an international tournament was the only debt the Uruguayan coach had with the fans, and now Israel paid off, leaving the team classified to the second phase of the Copa Sudamericana.
The Uruguayan coach, clearly moved, stated that he would like to come back some day for a third cycle at the team, and left the press conference faithful to his style, hugging each journalist one by one and leaving with a “See you later”.

Ruben Israel otro gran pasoRuben Israel’s Libertad defeated Mineros de Guayana and classified to the next phase of the Copa Sudamericana. The team won at Venezuela after gaining a significant advantage at the first match, and now moves forward waiting to play against the next rival, Sport Recife.
Although Israel’s team came to Venezuela with an advantage after the last match that ended with a score of 2 – 0, the game’s score was not resolved. Brian Montenegro and Sergio Aquino scored for el Gumarelo, while Richard Blanco did the same for the locals.
The global score was 4-1 in favor of the Paraguayan team. With this outcome Libertad is now classified to the next phase of the Copa Sudamericana and will play against Sport Recife of Brazil. The first match will be the 18th of September at Asunción.

Libertad finishes a great week by achieving two major objectives. On one hand, the team defeated its classic rival Olimpia, by a score of 1 to 0. Pedro Benítez added the only goal right before the end of the first half.
The Gumarelo proved its future potential by playing with a lot of its youngest players against the vice champion of the Copa Libertadores. On the other hand, the team took its first main step of the season by classifying to the second phase of the Copa Sudamericana, at a tied match against Wanderers that ended with a score of 0 – 0. Libertad had control of the whole match, however could not score and so the game finished at a tie. Libertad sized the advantage gained at Uruguay and now works towards its next rival, Mineros. Israel’s team keeps going straight up gaining great results.

The Gumarelo adds its fourth victory in a row while fighting for the vice championship, defeating by 2 – 1 against Deportivo Capiatá at the Nicolás Leoz of Asunción stadium. Velázquez and Núñez scored for Libertad, while Santa Cruz made the only goal of the visitor's team. With this outcome Libertad adds 35 points and takes the second position at the Paraguayan championship, keeping a 2 point difference with the teams at the third position, Guaraní and Cerro Porteño. Libertad's next match will be as a visitor against Olimpia, which is fourth, with 27 points.
